   Maybe because I have a lot of communication with English-speaking foreigners and train a lot, but....still keep learning. And I'm sure in this forum there are many people who have better English than me.^^
   HK is a brilliant city. I visited it last year. It was a 4 days travel. When I came ,I was surprised that this city is bigger than I thought and it's much more commercial than SH. The citizens are regular ,the traffic is regular, and the walking people are seperated by corridors and tunnels so well, not like SH. Compared with SH, HK is so clear. I didn't see anyone throwing trash on the street, neither did I, cuz I knew it would be a 5000 HKD ticket, It's a pity that SH dosen't have this rule.

   Talking about language, the feeling was a little bit strange ,but interesting because most of the time I didn't talk to the local people in mandarine.  I think in HK, Cantonese is the first language, English is the second, maybe mandrine is the thrid. So most local people speak good English ,even the waiters and waitresses in resturants also can. When I bought something in a shop ,I spoke mandrine frist, the seller also spoke mandrine, but he couldn't express exactly. So I changed into English ,and the problem went away. Then I just kept speaking English when buying things or asking roads.

I hope to see this city again.^^

I think there might be a mistake, the penalty of throwing is HKD$1500, not HKD$5000,
the penalty of smoking in public places is HKD$5000,

We speak English more than mandarine indeed. But my friends are not quite well in English. May be after 1997, the importance of English is decreasing? Or I am too serious, at least they can proceed basic conversation.

Anyway, I am still very impressive of your English ability.

I'm also a shanghailander. hv registered as a member of the forum for more than one year. what  makes me feel so sorry is that the English corner is  moved into my view just now. Also hv been to HK some years before. Still remember when i bought a DV in the Times Square, the mandarine became the obstacle btw the salespeople and I. Without English, the DV could not hv followed me to SHANGHAI. HAaaaa,memorable experiences.

Wow! It seems that everyone is very happy here... Someone comes from Hong Kong. How about others? Where are you come from? Is there anybody in the USA?

I registered almost three years, but I don't know there is a English corner right here.
Since this month I found that corner......

Anyway, I hope I can put some "heat" in this corner.

I only heard once from our guide~~~~~maybe that was a misunderstanding. So what about the penalty of spitting, HKD$ 5000?
HK used to be the British territory ,although it has come back now ,here are still a lot of foreigners ,all the public instructions are with Chinese and English, the English speaking environment is very good. This is a realy international city~~~

P.S:It will be nice to see your "heat" here.^^

I registered in the middle of 2005, coming here for search some information about Fireemblem , and then became a keeper of this department. Now, I have retired.
I also planed to buy a electronic product, but considered about the voltage ,I gave up~~~~

Most of the digital products could be charged by using the transformer. How it could be the problem?
